Energy projects typically involve huge investmentsand governments have traditionally played an important role in expanding essential infrastructure in developing economies.
The electricity industry is an effective state monopoly, as is the nuclear industry, and, along with the petroleum industry, they are all tightly regulated by government policies and government regulators.
It is only recently that coal prices and coal distribution were fully deregulated.
