One of the world’s greatest icons, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, will be awarded with the Frost & Sullivan Growth Innovation and Leadership (GIL) Lifetime Achievement Award at the third annual GIL 2013: Africa conference.
This prestigious event will take place on 15 August 2013 at The Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, where Tutu will be honoured for his leadership and exceptional contributions toward establishing peace within South Africa.
"This year's recipient, Mr Desmond Tutu, not only embodies the true characteristics of a key exemplar, but with determination and vision has taught us that true greatness can co-exist mutually and equally within our world and among its leaders,” commented Brian Denker, vice president & global head of Growth, Innovation and Leadership for Frost & Sullivan.
Tutu received the Nobel Peace prize in 1984 and has become a moral voice in the call for equal rights for all South Africans, as well as a system of common education. He encouraged non-violent resistance to the apartheid regime, becoming a role model through his advocacy of human rights and his worldwide campaign against HIV/Aids.
"We are truly honoured by the Archbishop's acceptance, and proud as a global community of industry visionaries, innovators and leaders to celebrate his lifelong contributions to the world and humanity," concluded David Frigstad, chairperson of Frost & Sullivan.
