Born on 18 July 1918 (globally known as Mandela day), Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela grew up to be a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, a politician and received international acclaim for his anti-colonial and anti-apartheid stance.
Rolihlahla ( in Xhosa literally means 'pulling the branch of a tree' but its colloquial meaning is troublemaker) has received over 250 awards including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, which he shares with FW de Klerk.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mandela family. Madiba touched countless lives and inspired people to reach out to those in need. He inspired hope, compassion and strength beyond limitations.
“A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.” ― Nelson Mandela
