Windaba is the annual conference of the South African wind energy industry. Windaba is presented in a partnership between the SAWEA and the Global Wind Energy Council.

This year's event is endorsed by the International Renewable Energy Agency and the Africa EU Energy Partnership.

It takes place from 22 to 24 October at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and is aimed at the full spectrum of Wind Industry stakeholders.

This year's conference will honour exceptional achievement in the past year. Awards will be made in six initial categories, namely:

 1.    Pioneer award

2.    Preferred bidders

3.    Preferred lender as nominated by the preferred bidders

4.    Preferred law firm as nominated by the preferred bidders

5.    Best journalistic coverage of wind energy

6.    Recognition of best academic contribution to the wind energy sector

Winners have been nominated and will be selected by the members of the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA).

The 2011 Windaba conference saw in excess of 350 participants from 23 countries exchange valuable international industry advances and provided an excellent networking platform.

The state-of-the-art, business-to-business online meeting system, which Windaba delegates have automatic access to, ensures that delegates maximise the time spent at the conference. The system allows for the scheduling of meetings at the conference and has again proved extremely popular.
